Robert McCrum in Observer: Correction

Some of you may have seen a disparaging reference to Tindal Street Press in Robert McCrum’s Observer column ‘On Books’ (28th March), in which we are taken to task for misattributing a quotation about Fiona Shaw to the Observer.
The quotation was from a smaller newspaper referring to a previous novel by Fiona, The Sweetest Thing, and appeared (wrongly attributed) on the front cover of the Virago paperback of this novel.
In fact, the original error was Virago’s: we borrowed the quotation in good faith, and did not anticipate needing to check its provenance. We hope that we might see some sort of correction in next week’s issue of the Observer.
