Heartland by Anthony Cartwright

News item

Picked as one of Esquire’s five books for the summer, Anthony Cartwright has been highly praised since his novel Heartland came out in May. ‘Toweringly good’ and ‘paced like a thriller’ said the review panel on Simon Mayo’s BBC Radio 5 Book Panel – and expect superb reviews for this very topical novel that uses two football games to look at BNP politics and national identity. Says David Peace, ‘this is what fiction should be: passionately engaged’.

The book has also been chosen for BBC Radio 4’s ‘Book at Bedtime’ and will be broadcast in October (exact date tbc).
