Anthony Cartwright, who won the prestigious Betty Trask Award for his debut novel, ‘Afterglow’ is coming to Brighton to read from his second novel, ‘Heartland’ on Sunday September 6th at the popular monthly Short Fuse live fiction night in the Komedia’s Studio Bar.

Chosen as one of Esquire’s five books for the summer, ‘Heartland’ uses two football games to explore BNP politics and national identity. It has been gathering praise since it was published in May this year by Tindal Street Press. Simon Mayo’s BBC Radio 5 Book Panel said it was ‘toweringly good’ and ‘paced like a thriller’.

Louise Hume, Creative Assistant at Short Fuse said ‘we are really pleased that we have a relevant writer whose finger is so much on the pulse of modern Britain headlining the evening, which is called ‘Politico’ and is all about stories with a political edge. Anthony will be followed by five Brighton-based writers who responded to our call for submissions and sent in their ‘Politico’ themed stories. They are excellent stories so the audience are in for a treat’.

Admission to Short Fuse is just £5, payable on the door. For further information about Short Fuse or to find out how to submit your stories for forthcoming events, please visit their website: Short Fuse or email info@shortfusestories.co.uk
